Family History
While I haven't yet confirmed it, a James Steel, born 1826 in Ireland, may be John's father. He can be found in the 1841 census of Amelia's brother John, with whom she might have been a frequent visitor. By giving her son the Steel surname, she must have anticipated marriage.
